Bio
Artur Caldeira, Portuguese Guitar
Artur Caldeira graduated from the Conservatório de Música Calouste Gulbenkian in Braga and has a degree in Classical Guitar from ESMAE – PPORTO, studying under Professor José Pina. He also completed his Master’s in Artistic Interpretation at ESMAE. Subsequently, he earned the title of Specialist in Music through public examinations and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Artistic Education at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto.
As an award-winning guitarist, Artur has performed solo, in chamber groups, and with orchestras across various European, African, and Asian countries, presenting several premieres. He founded the group “Som Ibérico,” arranging themes from Portuguese Urban Popular Music and producing a CD where he contributed to production and musical direction.
Artur produced, directed, and recorded the CD “Clarinete em Fado” by António Saiote. He directed and recorded the CD “Sefika Plays Fado” by Turkish flutist Sefika Kutluer, collaborating with guitarist Daniel Paredes. His recent recording, the CD “Obras Portuguesas Para Guitarra Clássica” from the “Saber Ouvir” collection, received excellent reviews.
Founder of the Bracara Augusta Guitar Trio, with whom recorded the CDs “Cantares do Minho” and “Cantares do Alentejo,” featuring compositions by Fernando C. Lapa inspired by the Minho and Alentejo folk songbooks (whose scores have been revised and edited by him). Artur has been a professor at CMP since 1992 and has been teaching at ESMAE – P.PORTO since 2009.

Artur Caldeira é um guitarrista «com sólida e brilhante formação de guitarra clássica», o que, aliás, ficou claro no espectáculo que proporcionou aos presentes no Auditório do ISEC. De salientar que o final da exibição de Artur Caldeira constituiu um momento de êxtase, quando o guitarrista interpreta, apenas na guitarra clássica, “Verdes Anos” de Carlos Paredes.

Catarina Perdigão, Voice
Catarina Perdigão (b. 2001) is a singer and soprano who recently graduated in lyrical singing from the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo (Porto), under the guidance of Professor Rui Taveira.
She is a member of the Orquestra Típica de Ourém and serves as an artist-in-residence at the Bons Sons festival in Cem Soldos, in the “Música para crianças e bebés” project, conceived by musician Pedro Sousa.
In the realm of Fado, Catarina distinguished herself in the academic curriculum dedicated to this musical style at ESMAE. She represented Portugal at the “23rd Rencontres Musicales de Méditerranée” on the island of Corsica, accompanied by Professors Artur Caldeira and Daniel Paredes. In February of the following year, she performed at the Museu do Fado in Alfama.
In July 2023, Catarina graced the stage at the Artes à Vila festival, held in the Capelas Imperfeitas of the Monastery of Batalha, with the project “O Fado, a Canção e o Cante” – a spectacle celebrating Portuguese music.
