VIOLA – Connecting People since 2001

Lecture

Wednesday, 27th March, 9am-10:30am

Back in 2001, a violist, reflecting on the need for contact and dialogue between Viola teachers, had a brilliant idea! Challenging teachers and students to leave their comfort zone, to show their work, encouraging the connection of ideas and experiences. He called colleagues from other Conservatories and together they organized a Class Meeting, promoting an exchange between students. The result of the event was so positive for everyone (students, teachers and families), that this embryo evolved into the Viola Meetings, welcoming violists from all over the country and far far away.

In these 23 years, thousands of violists have attended the Meetings! Today they are a meeting place not only for Viola students and professional violists but also for parents, family members and many other enthusiasts of the instrument. And those who were the first to participate as students are now those who connect their own students to this community, forming an impressive family tree of Violas friends.
